Male Vocalist of the Year - Seamus Begley
Dolans has come full circle with Seamus Begley after he launched the warehouse in 2008. He has returned this year with Steve Cooney to celebrate our venue of the year award this year. Although, Cooney wasnt playing on the opening night he remains an integral part of the spirit of Dolans. Both players were extremely influential in Mick Dolans decision to open the Warehouse.

During the 90s, the duet Begley and Cooney reached national acclaim and were regarded as one of the foremost performers of Irish music. Steve Cooney pioneered a new approach to traditional accompaniment and formed a perfect marriage with the energetic West-Kerry style of Seamus Begley. During this time they recorded the highly acclaimed album ‘Meitheal’ and were awarded the National Entertainment Award in 1997.

Accordion player and singer Seamus Begley is one of the most popular Irish traditional musicians, coming from an acclaimed Irish family from West-Kerry. In 2013, he was presented with the prestigious TG4 Gradam Amhranaí (Singers Award) and tours extensively with musicians such as Tim Edey, Jim Murray, Óisín Oisin Mac Diarmada and Téada.

Steve Cooney
Steve Cooney is guitarist, poet and songwriter. He was born in Australia and maintains his ancestral links with both Irish and Aboriginal cultures. He is most known for the development of an influential style of guitar accompaniment to traditional music and has recorded, produced, or played on over 100 CDs with artists such as Stockton’s Wing, Mary Black, Sharon Shannon, Altan, Dermot Byrne and Martin Hayes.
