We're delighted to be hosting the launch of the book 'Struggle or Starve', by Belfast-based writer and activist Sean Mitchell.
This book is the first dedicated to an important episode in (Northern) Irish history: the 1932 Outdoor Relief Riots, when protestant and catholic workers united in a common movement against the state's brutal unemployment laws. In dealing with this period, the book also covers the founding of the Northern Irish state, the roots of sectarianism, and the kind of politics required to overcome it. Given the recently announced deal between the Conservative Party and the DUP, such themes remain of contemporary interest.
Sean will be there on the night to discuss and read from the book and answer your questions.
