A cozy quintet with penchants for layered harmonies, The Rugs play their own kind of throwback mid-tempo rock. Led by the songwriting of Jeremy Gerrard (the Amblers) on guitar, keyboard, harmonica, and vocals, the Rugs combine the talents of Nolan Ford (Perpetual Drifters) on keyboard, guitar, and vocals; Andrew Alvarez on bass and vocals; Austin King on drums; and the lovely Katrina Rodriguez on ukelele, percussion, and vocals.
With particular attention to dynamics and melodies, the Rugs straddle several genres, producing a charming kind of alternative folk rock with the occasional pop flair.
