6 salsa dancing secrets
--
Never danced before? Don’t worry!
--
We show you every single step & take the class at a pace that everyone can keep up with.
A recent survey showed that 41% of men are reluctant to go to a dance class as they think they have 2 left feet, but don’t let this put you off! It takes some people longer to pick up the steps, but with a bit of determination, you can do it and it’s SO worthwhile when you do!
The same survey revealed that 1 in 5 men are put off by the fear
of ridicule from their friends. If you’re worried about your friends, you can tell them that Bruce Lee studied dance as hard as he studied martial arts. In fact, at the age of 18, he won the Hong Kong cha-cha championships. I bet they wouldn’t be so quick to ridicule him! Also, remind them of number 6 below (o:
1. Calorie blasting - Dance is a GREAT form of exercise and not boring like running on a treadmill! It's estimated that dance burns between 5 and 10 calories per minute, depending on speed/intensity etc. Thats a huge 300 - 600 calories per hour. Imagine what will happen when you start dancing all night. Dancing is a fantastic way to shed a few pounds. An hour of dancing zooms by so fast, that you'll be left wanting more.
2. Forever young - Dancing is fantastic at keeping us young. Not only does it benefit our hearts and cardiovascular system, it also increases lung capacity. It's physically demanding, but also great fun and keeps us smiling and happy. It slows down the ageing process by keeping us mentally, emotionally and physically healthy.
3. More confidence and self-esteem - When you regularly attend a dance class, you meet a lot of new people and you’ll soon find your confidence levels rising and your self-esteem growing. You'll also find that you're making a whole new circle of friends. The more classes and parties you attend, the faster it will happen!
4. Flexibility, agility and co-ordination - Most people lose these qualities as they grow older. Not only can dance drastically slow this process down, it can actually reverse it. You will find over time, that repeatedly performing certain dance movements has the effect of making you much more flexible and agile and makes you more co-ordinated whilst also having tons of fun and making new friends.
5. Strong healthy bones and well lubricated joints - Dancing strengthens not just our muscles, but our bones too. It can aid in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis (loss of bone mass) and keeps our joints lubricated aiding in the prevention of arthritis.
6. More attractive - In a recent poll, 39% of people said that they thought that being a good dancer makes you more attractive to the opposite sex.
If you've decided you want more fun, happiness, energy, friends, passion and self-esteem...

FAQs
Do I need to bring a partner?
No, you can come with a friend, a partner or on your own. Whatever works best for you. We have a mixture of couples, friends and single people at our class and we have a great system to deal with it.
What should I wear?
Anything that you feel comfortable in. Most people wear casual clothes, but bear in mind that you will probably get hot, so layers are good.
When can I start?
We have a new beginner course starting on the first Tuesday of each month. We appreciate that not everyone can come on the first week and not everyone can come every week, so we have teachers that will look after you if you have to start on any other week. Although it’s usually best to start at the beginning of the course and attend each class, if that’s not possible, let us know and we’ll arrange for you to start on a week that suits you.
What sort of footwear should I wear?
The most important thing about footwear is that it stays on your feet. So flip-flops are definitely not good! Shoes that have a non-grip sole (i.e. not rubber) are best, but don't worry too much. If you only have rubber-soled shoes, wear them, and if you find that you want to keep dancing, we can advise what's best later.
Am I too old?
We don't have an upper age limit, but most of the people in our classes are between their 20 and 50's. We also have quite a number of people older than that and provided you're fit enough to walk at a fast pace, you shouldn't have much of a problem in at least our first 2 levels of class. You'll certainly find people welcoming and friendly.
Am I too young?
Our classes are designed for adults but we welcome young students provided that they understand this and act accordingly. We need to know before the class if you're under the age of 18 and you'll need to be accompanied by an adult, but you're more than welcome to attend as long as you bear this in mind.

Are you scared?
Going to a dance class for the first time can be a scary thought, as most people don’t know what to expect. At our class, we try to make the class as comfortable and welcoming as possible. You’ll meet people and make new friends on the first night, so after that it’s plain sailing. Most people say that it was a lot more fun than they were expecting, which is why we feel confident in offering our 100% money back guarantee. If you don’t like the first class, for any reason, we’ll give you all of your money back*
When I went to my first salsa class I was terrified! I’d always thought I hated dancing and was expecting the whole evening to be pretty awkward, but I was amazed at how much fun it was. I spent most of the evening laughing and I made new friends straight away. I’m incredibly glad that I tried it. So if you’re unsure whether or not you’d like it, I’d urge you to try it just once and see. You may well be as surprised as I was. After all, you have nothing to lose!
