Fed up of exams and cold dark nights? Come and shake off those winter blues at The Tuesday Club Winter Carnival! And it wouldn’t be a carnival without bringing you true carnival legends, Channel One!
Channel One Sound System is one of the world’s greatest and best known dub reggae sound systems, run by legendary selector, Mikey Dread and featuring MC Ras Kayleb. Their sound system has been a centrepiece of the Notting Hill Carnival for 30 years and tonight we are proud to welcome them to The Tuesday Club for a very special DJ set.
Channel One’s mission is to break down barriers via reggae music. They have achieved this by playing new venues, new festivals and different countries, taking their unique sound to Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Turkey and all over Europe. In 2010, Channel One Sound System were the Red Bull Culture Clash winners, beating Skream and Benga, Metalheadz and Soul Jazz. Channel One also competed in the Culture Clash in 2012 at Wembley Arena, against Major Lazer, Boy Better Know and Annie Mac Presents. Channel One are the first reggae sound system to have taken their sound to Wembley Arena. At home and abroad they are firm favourites at festivals such as Glastonbury, Outlook and Boomtown.

Joining them is “Champion Selecta”, Benny Page. Heavily inspired by the bass lines of dub music, ragga jungle and hip hop, Benny Page’s productions have helped shape the sound of the UK’s Drum and Bass movement. Having cut his teeth with Shy FX’s Digital Soundboy imprint, he has collaborated with some of the most exciting producers and vocalists in the industry. From his remix of Gyptian’s “Hold You” to his work with the likes of MC Spyda and Topcat, he has taken his brand of dubwise dnb to audiences across the globe. It’s been a while since he graced the stage at TTC and tonight we welcome him back to join the party.

Finally, to get the night warmed up we introduce Banana Hill’s Cervo. Banana Hill have been making waves across the city for the past few years, bringing renowned artists such as Gilles Petersen, Seven Davis Jr, Funkineven and Nozinja. Playing an eclectic mix of Funk, Disco, Afrobeat and Rare Groove, we felt it only right that they should kick off proceedings at our own carnival.
